2017 On-Board Guest Speakers

Special Guests aboard the MV Uchuck III

Throughout the summer months Special Guests are on board on the Friendly Cove Day Cruises to offer insights into their areas of expertise. From native culture to artisans and silviculturists you will find these topical presentations interesting and educational. 

Saturday, July 8
Jeanette Glass
- Local Pine Needle basket weaver. Jeanette will be demonstrating her craft.  Large and small pieces for sale as well as samples of her work. Jeanette’s baskets have been sold as far away as Japan.

Wednesday, July 12
Linda Vandenberg
- Silver Stones Jewelry Local artist who creates silver necklaces and bracelets out of stone and sea glass. Demonstrations and jewelry for sale.

Wednesday, July 19 
Western Forest Products
- Katherine Pelkey and Taisa Brown will be on hand to answer any questions about forestry practices. 

Saturday, July 22
Clayworks Pottery
- Anita Lawrence will be on board to demonstrate pottery making. They have a Café and Studio in Gold River just over the yellow bridge.

Linda Vandenberg, Silver Stones Jewelry
- Local artist who creates silver necklaces and bracelets out of stone and sea glass. Demonstrations and jewelry for sale.

Saturday, August 5 
Jeanette Glass, Pine Needle Basket Weaver
- Jeanette will be demonstrating her craft.  Large and small pieces for sale as well as samples of her work. Jeanette’s baskets have been sold as far away as Japan.

- Local Historian on board.  Knowledge of local area and history extensive. Chuck will be on board with his maps.

David Davies
- Parksville Qualicum Beach area water color artist. Use of light in his paintings is outstanding. Come and see the world through his eyes.

Patti Fleschner
- Patti Fleschner is president of Trinidad Museum Society in Trinidad, California. She has  researched  the voyages and explorations of Juan Francisco de la Bodega y Quadra and George Vancouver, as well as the meeting with Chief Maquinna in 1792.   The story of the August-September 1792 meeting is full of adventure, intrigue and insight into voyages of discovery.
